Amazon vs. Google: Stock Trends
A graph of Amazon's stock value between its IPO in 1997 and today looks oddly similar to a similar graph for Google, which just had its IPO a few weeks ago.

What conclusions, if any, can be drawn from this, and what conjectures made?

I think the difference between a month and a year are pretty big. To the conclusion that you can't really infer anything from this. Give google a year or two and then maybe we could start speculating.
No conjectures can be drawn from it. You are looking at a very small period of time for Googles stock, and yet if you took amazon stock and focused in on it during various periods of time and isolated certain portions, you could likely come up with many points in which the graph would resemble that, for varying lengths of time - If you look hard enough to find a particular pattern you can find it most anywhere. In the end it is just skewed data. Plus, the companies are so dissmilair in nature (aside from both being internet-based) and the markets for each so different that comparisons between the two would require a much more detailed approach!
Hmmm...Comments so far have been very literal and specific. I'm interested in more abstract and generalized thoughts on this topic. The companies are indeed different in terms of their products and services, but they are *culturally* related, for starters.
I realize I am looking at a very short period for Google...their stock had only been around for a month when I wrote that post. And I don't think I isolated AMNZ's chart...I think that's pretty much their whole pricing history.
